ABSTRACT

This paper reports newly antimicrobial nanostructures based on magnetite and eugenol (Fe3O4@E) with an average diameter of 7 nm. Prepared functionalized magnetite nanostructures were characterized by TEM, SAED, XRD and TG analysis. Also, antimicrobial profile was evaluated. The antimicrobial assay revealed that Fe3O4@E have a good antimicrobial effect against both Gram positive (Staphylococcus aureus) and Gram negative (Pseudomonas aeruginosa) tested strains. These results highlight the impact of magnetite nanostructures on antimicrobial therapy and represents a promising approach for the development of alternative antibiotic-free anti-microbial strategies.
